Live Animals Transportation
IATA Rules require that live animals are transported under certain conditions using special equipment. We work meticulously to ensure that our best friends are transported under healthy and stress-free conditions.
During this process that start with the choice of the appropriate airline, we carefully plan many stages such as making our best friends ready for the flight, accurately preparing the documentation, and properly carrying out the permits and customs procedures etc. We closely and carefully follow up all the details up to the receipt at the destination and, the quarantine processes, if necessary.
All the details are complied with according to the appropriate Airline chosen, and IATA LAR (Live Animals Regulations). The legal requirements in the country of origin and the country of destination are checked. Accommodation and care services are organized before and during the transportation. Requirements for veterinary or feeds are met in line with the request of the sender.
Rules concerning documentation, packaging, labeling and marking are carefully complied with as described on IATA LAR, and additional information is provided for different requests during the travel.
Once the airport is chosen and the airplane is designated, booking is made considering if there is any other live animal on the said airplane. Proper transport mode or environment should be provided considering the natural life needs and conditions. All the processes should be supported by veterinary services, if necessary. The airline should be informed of the feeding and care services in line with the sender’s instructions. Stalls or equipment used for the transportation of, in particular, horses and other animals should be in line with IATA standards. The time of staying at the apron before the flight should be minimized through sensitive timing considering the customs procedures and transfer to the airplane, and it should be ensured that airline takes good care of the apron transfer as well as loading and unloading procedures.
Checks should be made and permits should be considered with the airline and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for Forbidden Types of Animals (experimental animals, animals with contagious disease etc.), Types of Cats and Dogs Forbidden & Dangerous to Transport (Van cats, Sivas Kangal dogs, Pit Bull dogs etc.) and Live Animals Transported under Certain Conditions (endangered animals, monkeys, gorillas etc.).
There are some animals, in particular, those that give off bad smell allowed to be transported only on cargo planes: sheep, goats, bulls, muskox, mustelidae-marten, ferret-weasel, minks (mustela putorius) etc.
It is possible to transport many types of animals through airline considering the conditions to accept live animals, and the requirements to be complied with during the transportation. For example, use of a cage size slightly larger than that is recommended for cats and dogs, ventilation locations, appropriate temperatures at departure and destination will make it possible to transport them.
Transport of Horses
Transport of horses require special considerations, and should be carried out under safe and comfortable conditions using Horse Containers meeting the respective standards of IATA. The following conditions should be carefully considered: temperature and moisture checks, companion on the plane, guarantee to flight on the flight for which booking is made, minimum connection times and shorter apron times. Special ramps should be arranged for loading and unloading, if and when necessary.
